Tuesday Book List

by JM

question.jpgWelcome to another Tuesday list. I received a lot of awesome mail since last week, including a book I received to review on Long Relationships (I’ll be posting the review here as well) and some amazon.com goodness.

I’ve had a bit of a rough weekend, but I’ll be kicking up the reading rate so I don’t get behind on the reviews.

Reading:
Circle of Flight – The Ellie Chronicles – John Marsden
Only Moments – Nick Oliva
Bird by Bird – Anne Lamott - I’m reading this for the book discussions over at Fiction Scribe. Feel free to drop in on the discussion anytime.
On Writing – Stephen King
Sabriel – Garth Nix – This finally came in the mail! Yay! I’ll be starting on it soon.
Fine, I’ll Go Online!: The Hollywood Publicist’s Guide to Successful Internet Dating – Leslie Oren – This also came in the mail, and I’ll be reviewing it on Long Relationships

Going to Read:
Ender’s Game – Orson Scott Card
If I Were You – Julia Llewellyn
Dragon Crosse – Kimberley Thomas
Firebirds – Fantasy/Sci-fi Anthology – Edited by Sharyn November
In Bad Dreams – Horror Anthology – Edited by Mark Deniz and Sharyn Lilley
The Lab – Jack Heath
Remote Control – Jack Heath
The Foreshadowing – Marcus Sedgwick
The Jaguar Legacy – Maureen Fisher

To Review:

The Rough Guide to Blogging – Jonathan Yang

Upcoming Reviews:
Turtle Feet, Surfer’s Beat – Marina Kuperman

So what’s on your list?

Also, if you have any recommendations, feel free to put them in the comments. (Keep in mind I don’t have access to books that haven’t been published in Oz.)

Some of my favorites, top of my book stack, are old-timers. So my recommendations are (even if already read are definitely worth a second read) Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 (ironic, eh, given our 451 network?), Nevil Shute’s On the Beach (it’s an aussie theme, good to know) and E.L. Doctorow’s Ragtime. Top three that came to mind, that I’ve read multiple times, so there ya go.

Thank you for the recommendations. I am relieved to say I have at least read one of them - Fahrenheit 451 - which I read for university. I’ll check and see if I can find the others at my library.
