The Harry Potter Trivia Tournament
So, last evening I volunteered at the 7th annual Harry Potter Trivia Tournament in Vacaville, CA. Over one hundred kids and teens met to test their trivia skills and help raise money to support local literacy efforts. As always, I was very impressed by their knowledge and their costumes. Mind you, we ended up with a few non-Harry Potter costumes this year. Go figure. The folks in grades 2-6 were quizzed on books 1-3, and the junior high and high school students encountered questions about books 4-6. This year even saw some really great raffle prizes. We had a wand from Alivan’s, a stuffed Hedwig, and a phoenix puppet just to name a few. This year, I went dressed as a random Ravenclaw.

A great contest! My 16-year-old daughter and I have been big Harry Potter fans since the first book was published. I’d love to see something like this in our area!

Well, I’ve done six of these now, and I am always impressed by the kids on that stage.

It’s a neat way to raise money and awareness for a good cause.

What a funtastic idea. Although my swiss cheese memory would put me at a disadvantage (if my age allowed).

Farley, here you see why I’m glad to be a volunteer, not a contestant.
