The Forfeit for A Book By Any Other Name

by Elisa

Okay folks. Here it is, the forfeit for your getting A Book By Any Other Name above 45 titles. The promised poem that I wrote in High School. I would just like to take this moment to remind you all that you asked for it. This poem was written for one of those assignments where you are given a color, and then must write a poem about it. Sigh.

Red is

The ruby weeping,
That is bloodshed.
The scarlet holocaust
Called anger.
The mind numbing blush
Of desire.
The crimson rose,
Dripping morning dew.
The vermilion sun
Boiling through the sea.
The incarnadine bloom
Of young hearts.
The carmine blaze
Called love.

    *applause!*

Thanks for coming through on your end of the bargain. ;)

  2. Elisa Says:

    ummmm…you’re welcome?

  3. DaveP Says:

And what precisely is wrong with that poem? For a high school verse based entirely on a colour, I think it’s good :)

  4. Eideann Says:

Well, dearheart, I have to say, I actually like it, but you know me and your poetry.

So, do we get to try again and make you post another poem??

    Loves!

    Eidz

  5. Elisa Says:

Well Eidz, if everyone is up for a repeat. I could post some of my earliest stuff like “Beautiful Thoughts”(6th grade) or if I can locate some of the earliest “Mice are Nice” poems…

And I’m glad you liked it? (Dave and Eideann, that is)

  6. Catslyn Says:

Ahh, to be young again — and dramatic.

Nevertheless, I liked it. It’s better than my teen-aged schlop.

  7. Elisa Says:

I had angst ones too…luckily I couldn’t find them. They were beyond melodrama…and mostly about suicidal depression as I recall. Yick.

  8. Catslyn Says:

Oh no, no, God please no! No angst. No suicidal depression. It’s a Saturday. That’s not allowed on Saturdays.

Special occasions and alternate bank holidays are good for me.

  9. emma Says:

“Mice are Nice” poems sound very good! :)

  10. Catslyn Says:

    Mice are nice???

    Oh please share!

  11. Debbie Says:

That was really good! What’s your problem with it? It’s better than some of my published ones, that’s for sure!

  12. Elisa Says:

Now I really hope that I can find one of those poems…
