Of Pigeons and Buses
I love picture books. I can’t decide if it’s some kind of secret vice or guilty pleasure, but there you are. Some picture books are entertaining to read aloud to anyone you come across, no matter their age. Some of them are even good enough that random co-workers don’t mind being given an impromptu story time. One such book is Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems.
The bus driver has left you in charge. Will you let the pigeon drive the bus? Watch out, this pigeon is mighty persuasive. Acting out the pigeon’s various attempts to get the reader to let him drive that bus is only part of the fun presented by this story. The art is simple and the storyline is easy to follow. It’s also just plain entertaining. Even the youngest children can enjoy Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. I have found that teenagers and folks in their sixties get a kick out of it too.

Mo Willems is one of the writers for the cartoon series, Codename:Kids Next Door. I get a kick out that series with my kids. I’ll have to check this book out. Thanks!

There are a couple of other books about the Pigeon. “Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late” is also really fun. Thanks for stopping by!
