Celebrate National Novel Writing Month!
November is National Novel Writing Month.
What is National Novel Writing Month? Well, the goal is to write a 50,000 word book during the month of November. Difficult? Yep. Exhausting? And how. Fun? You betcha. I have participated in NaNoWriMo a couple of times so far, and no, I have not yet managed to finish in time. I have a couple of solid starts, though. I’m going to attempt a spot of non-fiction this year. Hopefully, all of this blogging will help improve my writing skills. Either way, I’m sure to have fun.

Now, get out there and give me something new to read. ![]()

So, if you ALMOST got there, and others of us “wish” to get there…perhaps we can all pool our resources and spit something out that is worthwhile!
Well, the idea is worth exploring anyway, though I’ll admit that the last time I tried a collaborative effort it failed miserably.
As a collector (and eventual reader) of many books, I look forward to “Stacks” and can’t wait to hear more!

With my evil commute, I’ll be lucky if I make 1,000 words this year. *sigh* I’ll have fun anyway. Thanks for stopping by!

I have a buddy who made a run at nano a few years ago and he did pretty good, but didn’t quite make it. I’ve considered it, but I’d probably fold under the pressure!

I started Nano last year and finished with a little over 50,000 words. It’s now up to 62,000 and still going.
I’m all set for this year too! What’s going to be interesting this year is balancing my book reviewing (www.roundtablereviews.com) with my blogs and other freelance writing jobs with the Nano writing!

I hear you Tracy. I’m trying to rework one of my web sites as a blog on top of everything else. Here’s to luck and easy writing for all of us.

Thankfully, I handed my book review website updates to my dad for now. He’s retired and offered, so I jumped at the chance to have one less item to handle for the next month. But I do run an online book review site (www.roundtablereviews.com) and currently I’m getting in far more books than I have staff to handle. I keep signing new reviewers up, and then they learn that reviewing actually means you have to review books that suck too. They lose interest and send the books back to me. Not to mention, unless you review for a major publication or newspaper, book reviewing is not a paying market. You get free books, but many feel free books isn’t enough to keep them reviewing.
So I have my freelancing, book reviewing (reading and writing it up), teaching shorthand online, both websites, and life itself, NanoWriMo should be very, very interesting this year. I’ll be curious to see if I can pull it off.

Ooh Nano, It’s getting far too close now. I love the idea and I enjoyed my effort last year but only managed to get to 12,000 words
This year I’m going for the stream of consciousness approach and hope that’ll have a positive effect on my word count. What with the blog as well, it should be intriguing this year. Good luck everyone taking part!

Last year was my first year, I forced myself to sit down every day and write 2,000 words whether I liked what I’d written or not. There was the “after” period for alterations.
I did end up with 60,000 words by the end of the competition.
