Reading Spot

Favourite Reading Spaces

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Ah, xkcd. Still funny even after so long.

This is a reminder for everyone. You may remember Elisa’s favourite reading spothttp://www.thebookstacks.com/do-you-have-a-favorite-reading-spot/. I meant to put up pictures of my favourite reading spots as well as my husband’s…but the camera is acting funny and I don’t know how to fix it.

Next time.

Anyway, this is a reminder to everyone that I am also accepting submissions of pictures and descriptions of your favourite reading spots. Show off your comfy nooks and spaces where you like to read.

Email them to me by clicking this link. I’d like you to include a picture (or more than one), a description (one per reading space), your name as you would like it to appear, and a link to your site/blog (if you wish it to go up).

Have fun!

Reading Spots 4

Welcome to the fourth installment of Favorite Reading Spots. Just like last time, none of the respondents this time around sent me images to go with their favorite reading spots, so you can enjoy the picture of my reading spot (complete with ghost pillow) while you read about theirs. If you would like to tell me about your Favorite Reading Spot, feel free to email me or comment here. I should point out that I actually have 2 ghost pillows, but the other is actually a Peep ghost and was off haunting some other furniture at the time of this photo.

Deanna from Tot Tv Watch says that her bed is her favorite Reading Spot. “I generally only read in bed, so I suppose that would be my favorite spot. It is about the only place quiet enough in my house to focus on what I’m reading.” (I love reading in bed, too, Deanna. Doing so as an adult sure beats reading under the covers with a flashlight like I…never did as a kid. Just so you know, Mom, ’cause I know you’re reading this.)

Heather from http://www.about-lasvegasnv.com/ also enjoys reading in bed. “I usually only read in bed too, it’s the only time of day that I get a minute to myself!” (It’s starting to look like “in bed” may be the most popular reading spot of all. My main problem with reading in bed is: if the book is boring, I fall asleep. If the book is exciting, I may look up and discover that it is 3am.)

Commenting from lovely Kauai, Debbie says that her favorite Reading Spot is in the bathtub. (That sounds nice and relaxing, Debbie. I used to write in the bathtub. It’s hard to read and write in the shower. Maybe I should switch back to baths.)

Well, that’s it for this edition of Reading Spots. Keep those submissions coming!

Favorite Reading Spots 3

Welcome to the third installment of Favorite Reading Spots. None of the respondents this time around sent me images to go with their favorite reading spots, so you can enjoy the picture of my reading spot (complete with ghost pillow) while you read about theirs. If you would like to tell me about your Favorite Reading Spot, feel free to email me or comment here.

Wonder of W for Wonder maintains that she doesn’t have a favorite reading spot (but she loves my little ghost.) She hopes to find someplace really comfortable soon. (I wish you the most comfortable chair in the Universe, Wonder!)

Gillian from Food History says “I can’t give you a picture unless you want one of a random street. My quiet time for reading is often on my way to or from somewhere, on a bus or walking. I could give you a picture of my handbag, in which usually resides a book.” (Well, Gillian, you know what they say. The road to enlightenment is long, so bring snacks and reading material. I think you’re all set.)

Allison from Find Religion describes her favorite reading spot, thusly: “My favorite reading spot is actually on an airplane, as weird as that sounds! I typically have little time to read, and when I’m on an airplane there’s not much else I CAN do, so I can indulge in a good book without feeling guilty like I’m wasting time. Plus, it’s usually fairly quiet, my cell phone is turned off, and they provide a reading snack!” (Great choice, Allison. Books are always a better bet than the in flight magazine.)

Worldly Chatter’s Samantha has two favorite reading spots. “One is right on my couch curled up with the gobs of pillows on it and the other is near my home. There is a center piece near the center of town with plants, benches and such. It over looks an ice cream parlor and the center. I love it. In all the hustle and bustle I am invisible and read on one of the benches enjoying the weather!” (Obviously I agree on the couch. Your other spot reminds me of a lovely park that they have in Edinburgh. I could sit there and read forever. Thanks for your submission!)

Well, that’s it for this time. Keep reading!

Favorite Reading Spots

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

You may recall that last week I asked folks to send me their favorite reading spots. Several people responded, but JM over at Fiction Scribe was the first to actually send pictures, so I will begin with her Favorite Reading Spot.

reading_couch.jpg

JM Says:
“This would be my lovely reading couch. I love piling on the pillows and snuggling with my favorite blanket and book. (It’s winter down under.) It’s about six feet away from the heater, so I warm up so nicely. My husband’s desk is right to the left as well, so we can spend time together and still be able to do our own thing.”

Actually, it turns out that the couch is her second favorite reading spot, her favorite being “a full bubble bath with candles and such.” Mmmmm…that sounds lovely.

It turns out that her husband’s favorite reading spot is also one of mine. That would be: The Toilet. Yes, you know you do it too. Sometimes it’s the only place that I get any reading done.

Great Reading Spot choices, you two!

Oh! And here is a picture of the book that JM is currently reading. Please let me know if you like the book, JM.

Your favorite reading spot can be featured here as well. Feel free to mail me a picture and description here.
