Booking Through Thursday - BTT Archives

by JM

Hi everyone! I’m still off and about traversing eastern Australia, so once again I’m dipping into the Booking Through Thursday archives for prompts I can post ahead with. (I’ll be back with everyone else for next week’s BTT.)

Today, the prompt comes from August 10th, 2006.

” 1. Do you plan ahead for your reading? Work off of a to-be-read pile? A reading list? Or do you wing it, choose whatever you’re in the mood for?
2. If you do plan ahead, how far ahead? Do you have two or three books waiting in queue? Or are you backed up by dozens of volumes waiting their turn?
3. If you do not plan ahead . . . well, never? What about if you’re reading a series? Or someone gives you a book for a present?”

At the time this was posted, I never planned my reading nor did I work off any sort of list, pile, plan, etc. But now…

I plan ahead occasionally for my reading when it comes to reviews I sign up for and agree to post while an author is on virtual tour. Otherwise, I have a massive to be read pile that has now moved to its own self. Even so, I do tend to choose based on my mood when I can.

I definitely have dozens waiting their turn… I don’t mind it too much, but I would like to some day be able to say that I’m out of books. Then again, when I’m finished with the books on my shelf (and if I don’t have more on the way), I have my husband’s entire shelf of books to read…

  1. Megan Says:

This was a great BTT archive to chose. I think I will be copying this one soon.

Sometimes I plan ahead very rigidly and sometimes generally and sometimes not at all. I hold myself to my plan too harshly and then get disappointed in myself.

  2. JM Says:

It’s easy to get off track with a plan, so I always make sure to leave a little wiggle room. :)
