A Book By Any Other Name…Secret
Welcome to this week’s A Book By Any Other Name. The game works like this: Each week I will choose a word and offer a few titles that I’ve come up with containing that word in the title. Then it’s your turn to come up with book titles containing the same word, without duplication. (I would also like the author, but that is just so I can find the book if I want to read it.)
Also, this week I am issuing a challenge. If you can get the number of titles containing the weekly word above 45 by Midnight Pacific Time this Friday, (with no more than 10 titles commented per person and not including *my* titles) I will post a poem that I wrote in High School on Saturday. I figure that this is a suitably embarrassing forfeit (you should see some of the terrible poetry I wrote in High School *shiver*) to encourage folks to work together to comment with enough titles. The challenge will remain in effect until I have to post that poem (*eek*), after which I will issue a new challenge. Good Luck!
Today’s Word is: Secret

I Say:
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Secret Admirer by R. L. Stine
Secrets of the Aurora Borealis by Dr. Syun-Ichi Akasofu
You Say: …

Let’s see.
With R J’s last one that brings us to 22.
Now for Dani. Emma already got “The Secret” and “The Secret of Nimh” is the film title. The Book is “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh.” So, that makes 4 titles for you and brings us up to 26. (You may contribute up to 6 more if you like.)
Ummm…Who wrote The Secret Life of Beer? I might want to read that.
Thanks for playing the game, y’all.

Actually, Your Sister Dani is technically correct. I point out on her behalf that there is indeed a book, The Secret of Nimh written by Robert C. O’Brien and another book by the same name written by Seymour Reit. So, technically, there are 2 books of that title. (Ah, the joy of movie tie-ins!)
Also, for anyone interested, there are other books related to The Secret of Nimh (by various authors) that have yet to be named but could be added to the list.
May 16th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
Okay. I concede the point. That places us at 27 titles.
And Debbie? Could you not…help so much? I’m sorta hoping not to have to post that poem this week.

You misspelled Secret in a couple of the Nancy Drews there. Anyway we ended up with 27 titles this week, so the challenge continues next week. Try to get some friends to come and comment next time. (Really, ’cause It’ll make my stats look better if more people come by
)
