A Book By Any Other Name…Child

by JM

child_called_it_1.jpgWelcome to this week’s A Book By Any Other Name!

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I wish you great things for the days to come and the new year. This round I have changed the rules a bit, so read on…

Last week you got me to forfeit my story and poem. This week you’ll have to work a bit harder, but the prize is nice…

The game works like this: Each week I will choose a word and offer a few titles that I’ve come up with containing that word in the title. Then it’s your turn to come up with book titles containing the same word, without duplication (yes, that includes my titles.) I would also like the author, but that is just so I can find the book if I want to read it.

The current challenge: I challenge you all to reach 30 titles containing the weekly word by midnight Friday. Instead of the usual ten titles per person, I’m letting this week be one of abundance. Post as many titles as you want as long as you don’t double up. That’s the only rule.

My forfeit? I think for this first challenge, I’ll offer something a bit different. If you reach the goal this week, everyone who participates will get to choose one thing for me to forfeit. (So be sure to put your pick in along with your titles!) I’ll pick two of the forfeits and do them. The forfeits can be anything that’s reasonable and affordable. (I’m neither superhuman, nor rich.) So, more work from me, postcards to all participants, a new poem I have a week to compose…

If you don’t reach the goal, we’ll try again next week. (Maybe with a different forfeit.) If you reach the goal, I’ll have a brand new challenge for you next Monday along with a new forfeit (I’ll think of something really good).

(If you’re feeling pouty about the five titles per person limit, why not get a friend to come and comment as well? The more, the merrier.)

Today’s Word is:
